About This Set:
The games on this set are based on Marvel Comics' classic "Spider-Man"
character. This is "real" Spider-Man, the traditional look of the
character from comics and cartoons, NOT the experimental stuff.
Game 1: Streets of
the City. This is the only game on the set that's a
fully-functioning adventure game. It scrolls left to right, up
and down. Spider-Man can shoot webs, swing on webs, punch and
kick, crawl on walls, and jump up and down. Our favorite webhead
must fight his craziest enemies between righting wrongs.
- Collect
bags
of stolen cash, then fight Rhino.
- Diffuse
bombs,
then fight Scorpion.
- Collect
emps, then fight Electro.
- Collect
plutonium, then fight Green Goblin.
Game 2: Spidey
Training. This is a reflex game.
Spidey is practicing on a target range with his web-shooter. As
Spidey, you must blast the bad guys with your webs, but avoid hitting
your friends. This can be tricky, and it moves fast. It
also helps to know which of these characters is Spidey's friends, and
which ones are his enemies.
Game 3: Venom's
Vindication. This is a strategy game. Actually,
it's a clone of the much earlier video game, "Kaboom!" (1981),
originally designed by Activision for the Atari 2600 console.
"Venom's Vindication" looks much better. Venom drops bombs from
above, thugs attack Spider-Man at ground level. Spider-Man must
shoot web nets above him to keep the bombs from falling, while keeping
the thugs at bay.
My tip to you is to concentrate more on Venom's bombs than the
thugs. Although both can take down your life meter, one bomb does
a lot more damage than several hits from a thug. If you're a
Spider-Man enthusiast such as I, you might realize that the character
of Venom is misplaced in this game. Green Goblin or Hobgoblin
might have been a better choice. Venom doesn't use bombs as he is
more deadly with his living, alien symbiote costume. He also has
no use for thugs and prefers to personally deal with his enemies.
But hey, it's still a cool-looking game and it's fun. The
backgrounds change every so often.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
This
is
just a great set of games with a Spider-Man theme. It's
appropriate for all ages to play.
