Adventure Island:  Publisher: Hudson.  Year: 1989.  Difficulty: Medium.  Graphics: High.

This game smacks of "Super Mario Bros." only it's with a cute little Hawaiian-type guy in a grass skirt and baseball cap!  Very colorful and well-detailed graphics.  Just make it from the starting to finishing points of a level without getting wiped out by the bad guys.  Some of the bad guys can be tricky to kill off, so aim carefully with your hammers.  What's also neat is that he can get on a skateboard with helmet and even gain the help of a fairy who gives him temporary invincibility.  I love this game!  It's very charming to look at and very fun.  The music is happy, too, and makes me feel good.  I don't usually pay attention to video game music, but the music here stands out.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer:  Publisher: SETA.  Year: 1989.  Difficulty: Medium.  Graphics: Poor to Good.

Who would think that Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn could be made into a video game?  The backgrounds are designed well enough, but the characters are of poor quality.  Tom, Huck, the pirates, all the other little critters...look like something from the ancient days of Atari 2600 graphics.  The bosses, however, are very well designed including the giant octopus, crocodile, and others.  Overall, it's a cute concept.  You throw rocks at the enemies most of the time, but can shoot a slingshot every once in awhile.  It's worth playing.

Anticipation:  Publisher: ?  Year: ?  Difficulty: Easy to Hard.  Graphics: High.

This is what Nintendo called their first video board game.  You can have 1-4 players.  It's ideal for all ages, family playtime, or grown-up parties.  There are three levels you have to pass before the other players/computer.  Each level requires you to obtain four color cards:  red, blue, pink, and green.  In order to obtain these cards, you must first land on that color of square.  Then you must solve the puzzle.  This is where it gets tricky.

This game is comparable to popular board games like "Pictionary" or "Win, Lose, or Draw".  You have to guess what picture is being drawn on screen before it is finished.  Then you must use your knowledge of spelling to correctly spell the item on screen.  Before the game starts you can select the level of difficulty from easy to difficult.

I like the idea of this game.  It's a board game come to life!  Clear, colorful graphics make this a delight to look at.  There is absolutely no violent or offensive content.  Even church groups could play this game.
