About
This Series: In premise, this was very much like an early
version of TVs "Mission: Impossible", which first aired two years later
after this series began. A crack team, who happened to be
relatives, traveled the world fighting injustice by using incredible
schemes.
The cousins Fleming and St. Clair were con-men that
were so successful they no longer needed to con. So they used
their talents for the cause of good in taking down marks that deserved
punishment very, very much. Boyer was the top brains of the
outfit, with Niven being a very close second.
It's a shame this series was in black-and-white,
because such a worldly series deserved color. Maybe that's one of
the reasons it didn't last. It was certainly a very well written
and acted show. "The Rogues" had the right blend of comedy,
action, adventure, and mystery to make it excellent viewing, even
today. It was like watching a weekly version of James Bond, or a
Charlie Chan movie, or a Basil Rathbone era Sherlock Holmes
movie. Incredibly likable, intelligent, and fun!
