"Shirt Tales" began life as popular characters on Hallmark greeting cards in 1980. So popular, in fact, that they were the company's top-selling cards. Hallmark teamed with Hanna-Barbera Productions and released a TV cartoon series in 1982. The cartoon was successful for two seasons (1982-1984). However, it didn't last long as re-runs and was pulled from network TV for good in 1985. The booming franchise that had been going since 1980 dried up shortly after. Hallmark still uses the Shirt Tales characters on various items, but the real heyday of Shirt Tales was from 1980-1985.
