About Women Action Figures:

Female action figures are STILL not that common in today's "enlightened" society (2008), and before the 1990s they were almost nonexistent.  I think women in fiction deserve more respect than they're getting, and they SHOULD be honored with more action figures than they've received.  The problem with action figures as a toy concept is that "action figures are for boys" and "dolls are for girls".  And a woman figure can be too easily construed as a "doll" and therefore "not cool" with boys.  So most of the women action figures made are for adult collectors.  The great thing about this is that since these figures are made for discerning adult buyers, great attention is paid to detail.  The bad thing is that you pay for this detail, and most female action figures can be costly.  I'm a great admirer of women action figures, and I think the prettier the better.  In this special feature of the Toys department, I will key you in on great women action figures and what you might like to add to your collection.
