About This Series:

This series began in 1991 and was Toy Biz’s first real success as an action figure line.  It was initially based on the comic characters, but when the animated TV cartoon series started on FOX in the early 1990s, it soon became a combination of the two.  The “X-Men” series boasted characters exclusive to the comics AND the cartoons.  The characters that appeared in both incarnations were often redone several times as the years progressed.  Wolverine is the single most popular character to have been done in figures over and over.

I never was a fan of the comic books or cartoons, but I always thought the character concepts were neat.  I'm a much greater fan of the live-action X-Men movies, but they lack the color and looks of the comic/cartoon X-Men.  As far as X-Men goes in action figures, this line is much more entertaining.

Featured Figures, Playsets, Vehicles:

Sub-Series- Series 2
Name- Magneto II, aka Super Spark Action Magneto
Year- 1992
About the Figure- A great-looking figure that captures the comic likeness of the classic villain.  Comes with black machine gun.  Why Magneto would need a gun, considering his super-powers, is a mystery.  Quite simply, action figures don’t usually sell without accessories, so Toy Biz threw in some quicky weapon to pacify buyers.  This Magneto figure is considered far superior in design to Magneto I, which just looked goofy with his oversized, removable helmet and chunky.  Serious collectors of X-Men figures try to have this in their collection.
