From The Webmaster:
With all my other talents, I can now add "construction
worker" to the list! Yes, work on the Emmy Lou Candles Shop is in
progress! It will be open in late Fall. The Emmy Lou
Candles Shop is a real, honest-to-goodness store where you can come and
buy Emmy Lou Candles! Emmy Lou Candles has been doing shows at
various craft bazaars, fairs, and on its own ticket for well over a
year now, and we just decided it was time to open a shop. This
will be a very special shop, because our emphasis is on "pretty".
We know that buying candles should be a pleasant experience, and the
Emmy Lou Candles Shop will reflect that. It will be a very
attractive store, set in the country at the Whipple homestead!
My brother Ryan is the "chief" construction worker. He's the one
with carpentry talent and does all the technical stuff. I help
out with the "grunt", physical stuff. And mother Carol, Miss
"Emmy Lou Candles" herself? She has the daunting task of
supervising. Seriously, though, she was a huge part in designing
what she wanted for the shop. There was a lot of thought put into
the layout of the building. The showroom will really knock your
socks off!

More about Ryan...I'm very happy to announce "Freedom
Air", a
new feature in this newsletter. It's my brother's airplane
maintenance business. He's a supremely talented mechanic, and he
also has an IA (Inspector's Authorization). Ryan can do things to
fix planes that you just wouldn't believe possible. It's hard to
find good airplane mechanics nowadays, and Ryan is a great one.
I've seen him work, so I know what I'm talking about. If you're
up to flying your plane to Eastern Iowa, look up "Freedom Air" and give
Ryan a call, or drop him a note. It's definitely worth the
trip. You'll find much more information in the feature.
When you contact Ryan, tell him Polar Blair sent you!
I promised you a really good newsletter this month, and MAN does this
have content! There's been a lot of exciting things happening in
and out of Polar Blair's Den the past thirty days. Many additions
and updates have been made in various Departments. I also brought
in two new Departments, Holidays and Puppets! Holidays will discuss, in depth,
many holidays American and foreign.
For this month, I've added Thanksgiving. Puppets is another fun
Department. I love puppets. Few things are funnier.
Some puppets are
very simple in design, others are extremely complicated to work
with. ALL of them present interesting personalities. This
Department will talk about all the greats!
Yes, I wrote a book. With an actress, yet! Quinn O'Hara and
I really had a blast with "Copper & the Great JoJo Mystery".
We feel it's certainly an original kind of book, and one that cat and
dog lovers will take to as soon as they turn to the first page.
It's written for all audiences. Kids can read it...it's all clean
humor...but we did write it
with more of a "grown up" sensibility. You have to know what it's
like to be a pet owner to really get the significance of it all.
"Copper & the Great JoJo Mystery" is the first book to be published
by Polar Blair's Den. Yep, PBD is a publisher now. I hope
to publish many more books, fiction and non-fiction. Since PBD is
a very new publisher, it's currently a small operation. It WILL
grow, but I'm not really concerned with making Polar Blair's Den a
leading publisher. Whatever happens, happens. I just want
to produce great, interesting books that I think people will really
enjoy and make some kind of profit. I'm very interested in
publishing books of original, untapped subject matter. I don't
want to put out the same kind of cookie cutter literature that a lot of
publishers do. I'll keep you informed about the publishing aspect
of Polar Blair's Den as things develop. In the meantime, check
out "Copper & the Great JoJo Mystery". I really hope you like
what you see!
Another neat thing I wanted to share with you this month is about a man
named Bill Chott. He's a comedic actor whom I've enjoyed for
years, first on TVs "The Dana Carvey Show", and in numerous movie
appearances. You've most likely seen him, but don't know him by
name. Currently, he does stand-up comedy and improv, and has
developed quite a following. Bill is a top contender for the role
of Curly in a new "Three Stooges" major feature film, to be directed by
the popular Farrelly Brothers. He thinks, as a lot of people do,
that he's just about got it. However, he needs our help.
Bill needs your letters of support to the "powers that be" that he
would make a good Curly. He has the look, he has the talent, he
just needs your voice. I gave him a spot in the Movies
section of this month's newsletter. Check it out to see what you
can do!
This month's edition of the PBD Really Fun Newsletter is a real
thriller. I hope you like what you see. Expect more big fun
and surprises in the newsletter for next month, and every month.
I thank all of you for your continuing interest and support!

One of my proudest additions for this month is Fawcett's classic
"Nyoka the Jungle Girl" series, which ran from 1942 to 1953. It's
not a superhero series, just an adventure series. Nyoka was
different from the Sheena-like jungle girls as she was an
explorer. Interesting, light-hearted action tales. She was
the first character from a movie serial to be put into comic books.

All kinds of nifty little facts. For instance, did you know
Napoleon was afraid of cats? Or that pencils were made yellow in
honor of China? What the heck is "feng shui", anyway?
Where can you go in the world where shaking your head means "yes", and
nodding means "no"? What country makes up buckets of fried ants
at their movie theaters, instead of popcorn? And have you ever
heard of ostrich jockeys? All these neat little items, and many
more, are explained in this month's updates!
