Words From The Webmaster:

Wow!  It's been a long time since one of these things!  Glad you're here!

As you know, Polar Blair's Den has been under mass reconstruction for the last half of this year.  It's something I've been wanting to do for the last two.  Polar Blair's Den has grown so big in size and traffic that I felt I needed to improve upon it.

My biggest goal with the "new" Polar Blair's Den is to make it more orderly, so it is easier to navigate.  I hope everyone will find Polar Blair's Den more searchable.  At the same time, I made all the pages of respective departments look uniform.  I strive for consistency within the departments.

Second, but not at all least, I've added TONS of new stuff.  I couldn't redo the pages without adding new things, could I?  Look around.  I promise you'll see something you haven't seen before.

An important change to address now is that of the newsletter.  For over four years I used Bravenet's free newsletter service to issue my newsletters.  There were great problems with this service, the biggest being that not all subscribers would receive the newsletter.  I'm not trying to disparage Bravenet.  It is a fine resource for webmasters, and they offer many great tools, but some of their tools are problematic.

Instead, I am making the newsletter a "hidden" page in my website.  I have no links on my website that will direct you to this page.  And every newsletter will only stay online until the next one is developed.  Subscribers are e-mailed a link to this newsletter page, and not the actual page.  I found that HTML documents take a long time to load in people's e-mail programs, and sometimes do not reach the receiver.  It is for that reason that I only send a link.  You can view the page at your leisure and do not have to worry about it taking up space in your inbox.

If you are someone who just happened to Google this page and want to subscribe, simply send me an E-MAIL that says SUBSCRIBE in the subject line.

Before you read the rest of this newsletter, I want to make it clear that Polar Blair's Den is NOT yet fully redone.  It is a very large website and I am the only one who maintains it.  I plan to have all of Polar Blair's Den back online by March, 2009.  I DO, however, have three departments that are fully uploaded and ready for your enjoyment.  These include:

Actors/Actresses/Performers
Movies
Television

Actors/Actresses/Performers:

BRAND NEW DEPARTMENT!  I've talked about actors, actresses, and other filmed performers for years, but I've never had a department tailored exclusively to them.  I found that by creating such a department, I could talk even MORE about these people I admire.

At the time of this newsletter, 179 actors, actresses, and performers have features in this department!  More are coming!

Beauties of the Beverly Hillbillies
Blair's Girls
Film Fatales

...are now all special features within this department!

Movies:

This department is massive, and it took the most work of the three I have fully redone so far!

  • Where's "Blondie's Page"?

"Blondie's Page" has needed updating for three years.  One change is that I just call it "Blondie Film Series" now, but for longtime fans it will always be thought of as "Blondie's Page".  It is now a feature within the Movies department!  It starts at www.polarblairsden.com/moviesblondie.html.  It's much cleaner and nicer-looking, and follows the theme of the Movies department.  Everything that was there is still here, plus much more!  Take a look around!

  • Where'd the "Tiger-Woman" Go?

That ravishing jungle heroine, all 12 chapters of her, are back and better than ever!  The extremely popular movie serial feature is now an entry in the Movies department, and begins at www.polarblairsden.com/moviestw.html.

  • Does Polar Blair's Den Still Talk About The Live-Action Superheroes?

Of course!  This feature was a little tricky for me to redo.  As you know, live-action superhero shows can be movies or television shows.  So this is a feature within the Movies AND Television departments.  If it's a TV show, it's in the TV department.  If it's a movie, it's in the Movies department.  They are listed in those departments, but a combined list of all the live-action superhero shows is also available.  That page starts at www.polarblairsden.com/moviessuperheroes.html.  Have fun!  It's more "superheroy" than ever!

So much has been changed and added to this department!  Give it a look!

Television:

This was the department, of the three now online, that needed the most help!  It was very thin, unorganized, and confusing in my opinion.  I feature many more shows, now.  And it looks sweet!  There's a lot more to come, as with all my departments, so stay tuned.

What's Next?:

I'm currently working on the Toys department.  That department has always been one of my weakest, and I really wanted to highlight many action figures and stuffed animals that I think are pretty nifty.  Interested in superhero action figures, or stuffed animals of classic cartoon characters like Baby Huey and Chilly Willy?  Stay tuned!  This will be the next department to be fully revamped.

Another department I'm working on is Comics.  This is really two-in-one, as I feature Comic Books and Comic Strips.  I had a fairly meaty department with this once, but it was not easy to look through.  I am changing that.  Comics is one of my greatest passions, so this upcoming department will be a real blast for anyone who is a fan of comics from the 1800s to 1990s.  Cartoon, comedy, funny animal, horror, hot rod, science-fiction, superhero, war, western...if any of these genres interest you, I will be talking about all them and much more!  I'll also be highlighting many different publishers besides Marvel and DC.

Music is another strong interest, and that department is being re-tweaked.  More information and a better arrangement is all coming your way!  The only feature of the Music department currently online is Gayle Caldwell.  Check out and buy her wonderful new CD!  Click HERE!
