Dr. John was the inspiration for Jim Henson's Muppet character of Dr.
Teeth.
Polar Blair's Thoughts on the
Artist: Dr. John is cool! I enjoy all periods of his
work. He started out as a 1950s session musician playing
"greaser" type rock 'n' roll, then he invented "voodoo rock" in the
1960s, before playing the brassy New Orleans boogie-rock exclusively
since the late 1970s. I seek out all his music.

Dr. John- Live at Montreux
1995 (2005, Eagle Rock Entertainment)- 93 minutes.
RECOMMENDED! Concert videos of Dr. John are surprisingly rare,
and this is a good one. He actually picked out this concert for
video release himself when a series of "Live at Montreux" DVDs was
being released of the music festival's many artists since 1967.
Also included on this DVD are three songs from his 1986 performance at
Montreux. Dr. John doesn't do any of the wild stage antics like
he did in the old days (pre-1980s), but he's got a hot band and they
play great New Orleans boogie-rock! The film quality and editing,
as with all Montreux DVDs, is exceptional.
