X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009): Excellent movie! To be quite truthful, I wasn't interested when I first heard this film was going to be a prequel. I enjoyed the third X-Men film, "X-Men: The Last Stand", and really wanted to see a Wolverine story move from that point. Hugh Jackman really sold this for me. If anyone else had tried to play Wolverine I doubt if I'd have been so eager to watch it. I think at this point, NO ONE is going to be able to play Wolverine like Hugh Jackman. He's about as key to this character as Clint Eastwood to Dirty Harry, or Paul Hogan to Crocodile Dundee.
WOLVERINE CHARACTER CLUES:
I was more than pleasantly surprised when I found this to be a well-written movie with incredible, non-stop action. It ties pretty well into the continuity of the X-Men films. It answers a lot of questions that were raised in the previous X-Men films.

- Wolverine was born as James "Jimmy" Logan sometime in 1830s Canada.
- Jimmy was adopted by James Howlett and assumed he
was his father. Thomas Logan, Jimmy's true father, actually
worked as Howlett's groundskeeper.
- Victor is the older brother to Jimmy. We assume about five years older. He actually lived with his abusive father, Thomas Logan.
- We don't know about the mother to Jimmy and
Victor.
- Apparently, Jimmy and Victor's father was unfit. Thomas Logan, for sure, was a very negative alcoholic.
- Upon the death of who Jimmy believed to be his
actual father (James Howlett), Jimmy killed the murderer, his true
father (Thomas Logan). This happened in Canada, 1845.
- Jimmy's claws were originally bone extensions.
- After the death of the Dads, Jimmy and Victor ran away from home.
- Where Victor gets the last name Creed is unexplained.
- Victor can grow bone claws from his fingertips, although we're to assume he discovered his power sometime after Jimmy.
- Jimmy and Victor, as adults, fought in the American Civil War and every major American war through Vietnam. They never age further and seem indestructible.
- Victor is more animal-like, and has an uncontrollable killer instinct that distances him from Jimmy.
- Jimmy and Victor meet Colonel William Stryker while locked up by the American military in Vietnam. This would be sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The year is not made clear.
- Stryker offers them freedom if they join his team of mutant mercenaries. They agree, and are soon in alliance with killer mutants like John Wraith, Agent Zero, Fred Dukes (later Blob), Bolt, and Deadpool.
- Stryker's team initially takes on dangerous criminals around the world. They don't know that Stryker is really searching for the rare metal adamantium.
- Jimmy Logan ultimately leaves the team when he's disgusted with the senseless killing of innocent people in Africa. By this time, Victor has become Stryker's favorite warrior and second-in-command.
- The rest of this movie takes place six years later, which would be the later 1970s or very early 1980s. Again, the time is not made clear. Logan has relocated to Canada and works as a lumberjack. His lover is Kayla Silverfox, a beautiful schoolteacher.
- Logan takes his nickname, Wolverine, from an old Inuit legend told by Kayla.
- Logan reluctantly rejoins Stryker for revenge
