- The tolling of bells has its origins during Pagan
Winter festivals. It was believed the sound would drive away evil
- Much later, bells were rung to announce the birth
of the messiah Jesus Christ.
- In early times, musical instruments were not
affordable for many people, so bells became a popular substitute during
the festive Christmas season. Bells were small and easy to take
to church or for caroling.
