- Lenin's
Brain: When Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the father of Soviet
Communism, died in 1924, scientists removed his brain and cut it into
31,000 slices. They stored the slides at the Moscow Brain
Institute, which was set up to study the brains of prominent Soviet
citizens. After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the
oh-so-secret findings on Lenin's brain were released. It was
pretty average and unspectacular.
