Arby's "B.C. Ice Age" Series (1981)
Arby's "B.C. Ice
Age"
Series (1981)
There were 6 glasses in this series: Anteater, B.C., Fat
Broad, Grog, Thor, and Wiley. Every glass stood 5.25" and
measured 2.75" wide.
These glasses were very well made, especially for a fast food promotion
in the early 1980s. They can STILL look like new with normal
use. The paint holds on great, and the glass is tough. For
some particular reason, these glasses are not really sought out by
collectors, and they don't command too high of price. Even more
strange, these SHOULD be worth money, because they are not very easy to
find. The "Fat Broad" glass is probably the hardest to find of
the set. I really like these glasses, probably because I like the
comic strip, but they're really just good quality items.
The illustrations are very simple. The most elaborate designs are
those of Anteater and Grog. Anteater "zots" himself in the butt
with his own long tongue that wraps around the glass. Grog is
listening to a shell. B.C. and Fat Broad are standing. Thor
rides his wheel. Wiley (the peg-legged, old caveman) leans on a
club. I'm really surprised that this series did NOT release
glasses of popular characters like Peter (who is probably the most
important character to the strip) and Cute Chick.
