About This
Series:
This is a Marvel
UK title. I'm generally NOT a fan of the Marvel UK imprint.
Most of their series are hard to follow, overly violent, and generally
inferior to regular Marvel Comics in artwork and writing. But
every once in awhile, a pleasant surprise like "Super Soldiers" came
along. They were mostly original heroes, with the exception of
U.S. Agent. U.S. Agent, who had already been appearing in Captain
America and Avengers comics for years, was like the darker version of
Captain America. He's not evil, nor was he ever really evil, but
he IS excessively violent and a bit psychotic. The U.S. Agent
character was not only a good fit for this title, but for Marvel UK
comics, period. The UK imprint was notably harsher in violence
and attitude.
The "Super Soldiers" series is still a bit too
violent for my tastes, but not overly so. It shouldn't warp
kids. If this was a movie, I'd give it a PG rating...PG-13 at
most.
Issues:
#4: July,
1993. I'm not overly pleased with the style of artwork, but it
fits the mood of the series. Comparable to the effect it had in
the "Punisher War Zone" series. The story itself is very easy to
take in as a newcomer, and almost constant action. U.S. Agent is
still the coolest character, though. There is heavy action, most
of it non-super-powered. The action in this series concentrates
more on guns, blades, and martial arts.
