Gold Key

I always liked
the Korak comics. There's only one problem: He's not much
different than Tarzan! Korak is basically a carbon copy of
Tarzan. In these comics, Korak is in his twenties. Tarzan
is still alive, and apparently still "doing his thing", but he's little
seen and often mentioned. Korak simply has his own
adventures. Just another jungle dude. But, like the Tarzan
comics from Dell and Gold Key, the Korak comics boast great stories and
art.
Tarzan of the Apes #206

Another visually interesting Tarzan cover with the jungle hero fighting
intelligent gorilla soldiers.
Turok, Son of Stone #56

Turok is an incredibly interesting concept. He and other Indians
(Native Americans) live in the age of dinosaurs and have countless
adventures. Years later, in the early 1990s, Turok was revamped
by the Valiant publisher as "Turok, Dinosaur Hunter". This lasted
for a few years until Valiant closed up. In the late 2000s, Turok
was made popular again in the medium of video games.
Walt Disney Beagle Boys #4

I always liked the Beagle Boys characters, so I found it interesting
when they were given their own series. How can you take crooks
and give them their own comic stories? Gold Key actually did a
great job. Each comic adventure would start with the Beagle Boys
planning some criminal scheme. The scheme would backfire
incredibly, and the story would end with a simple "crime doesn't pay"
message.
Walt Disney Donald Duck #124

Donald Duck comics were ALWAYS cool! This is another one.
Uncle Scrooge comics? Eh, they're so-so. But Donald Duck
adventure comics were always funny and entertaining. Especially
when the nephews or the Beagle Boys were involved. In this issue,
Donald finds a pair of boots that make him fly. It's funny that
the writers consider this a new sensation for Donald, as he is a
duck. Then again, Donald has never been known to fly on his own
in any medium. I find that strange. Even Warner Bros.'
Daffy Duck can fly.
Walt Disney Moby Duck #14

The name of this character cracks me up! I love Moby Duck, but he
is a rather obscure character in the Disney world. Although he's
occasionally featured with the Duck characters like Donald, Uncle
Scrooge, etc., he is not related to them and shares only their last
name. Moby Duck is supposed to be a whaler, but in the 1960s-70s
whaling was very taboo, so they never showed him actually
whaling. Moby Duck got caught up in other adventures. The
series suffered greatly from not being published regularly due to low
sales. These long lapses effectively killed ongoing
interest. Plus, Moby was never featured in any of the Disney
cartoons, so no one really knew much about him. Many of the
writers and artists, themselves, were not thrilled with the Moby Duck
comics as it didn't have any regular supporting cast. Moby was
pretty much the only ongoing character and if it hadn't been for the
other, established Ducks making guest appearances, the stories would've
been dead in the water. Moby, himself, also lacked from having
any quirks. Besides having a funny name, he didn't have any funny
sayings, built-in plot devices, nothing! I think Moby Duck was a
cleverly named and well-drawn character that should have been given a
lot more focus.
