A brilliant comic adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale!

Classics Illustrated Junior #525 (Publisher: Famous Authors)

A wonderful comic version of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, "The Little Mermaid".  What I find interesting is that this Little Mermaid is a redhead.  In most story versions, the Little Mermaid was blonde.  But this redhead version appeared many years before the animated Disney film.

Classics Illustrated Junior #530 (Publisher: Famous Authors)

This series was great for presenting fairytales to readers that were rare even in the 1950s.  This story, Wild Swans, and King Thrushbeard are all fine examples of the great, yet obscure fairytales.

Classics Illustrated Junior #553 (Publisher: Famous Authors)

This is a great story about a stuck-up girl that gets her comeuppance.  Classics Illustrated Junior really did a great job of bringing old stories to brilliant, fascinating life.  These would have made great cartoon shorts or live-action TV specials.
