Original
stories based on the comic
strip. Funny!
Billy the Kid #74

This was an
engaging series.
Billy the Kid, the notorious gunslinger, reformed and became a
lawman. So this series is all about Billy the Kid taking on
bandits with his gun-shooting skills.
Black Fury #35

An interesting
comic series.
It's labeled as "Western" because it's the only category this really
fits, but the lead character is not a cowboy. A wild, black
stallion known as Black Fury is the lead and only regular
character. The narrator voices Black Fury's thoughts and actions,
and the reader simply follows the situations he gets involved with.
Black Fury #47

The Flintstones #4

The
Flintstones was better in comic
books than in cartoons. The continuous, abbreviated sight gags of
which the Flintstones is noted works better in a series of cartoon
panels than it does in a stretched-out, 30-minute or more cartoon
show. In the comics, it's one funny little joke after another,
and this makes it very entertaining.
Ghostly Tales #166

There were
many good, non-violent
horror comics from various publishers. This is one such
series. This series was great for giving us interesting
characters and stories with no gore. There was a lot more skill
in horror writing and art back then. Very stylish.
My Little Margie #26

Based on the
TV series, this comic
took on a life of its own. "My Little Margie" was done in a very
Archie-esque style; sleek, colorful, and pretty. But the stories
have a lot more spunk and attitude than Archie. Margie's a
pistol! I liked how readers could send in ideas for Margie's
outfits and have them brought to life in the comics with name
credit! How neat! Worthwhile reading for everyone!
Not a "girl" comic per se, although Margie is the central character.
