About This Series:

Based on the popular "Elvira" character from TV and movies.  Plays off a lot of elements from the live-action movie, "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark" (1988).  Although done in black and white, this comic book series is still fun to look at.  Elvira, herself, is black and white so it seems to translate well, visually.  Besides that, the artwork is just real slick and polished.  Above all else, these comics are FUNNY!  What do you know?  A comic book series that's actually comical!  There weren't too many of those in the 1990s.  And this isn't even dirty funny.  Just sexy funny.  I'd give this a PG rating at the strongest.

Another cool thing is that Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) had some association with the creators.  She contributed cover photos, and sometimes story ideas.  Elvira had a lot more involvement with her comic than most people in history who have had comic series based on them.

If you love the Elvira character, you'll love this comic book series.  It's as simple as that.  They didn't dummy the book up for geeks.  Elvira wasn't made a superhero or anything else cliche.  She's simply Elvira, having adventures like only Elvira can.

Issues:

#1:  May, 1993.  The first story is about Elvira being spun off as hostess of various TV shows at her station.  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 1".  In "Exeter Only", a wealthy old man named Exeter Phillips gives Elvira a special necklace with an egg-shaped pendant.  Elvira doesn't know it, but the necklace is the key to Exeter's great treasure, and the rest of his greedy family is willing to kill for it!  Exeter, himself, was put in the old folks home by his family and is near death.  Throughout this 6-part saga, Exeter's evil family attempts to kill Elvira and steal the necklace.  ALL of the attempts backfire, and all of the family is sent to prison.  Elvira discovers that the necklace locates where Exeter hid his will.  In the will, Elvira learns that all of Exeter's fortune goes to the old folks home where he stayed for so long.

#2:  June, 1993.  The first story is "Curse & Tell: Part 1", about a teenage werewolf boy Elvira helps out.  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 2".

#3:  July, 1993.  The first story is "Curse & Tell: Part 2".  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 3".

#4
:  August, 1993.  The first story is about Elvira's high school graduation.  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 4".

#5:  September, 1993.  In the first story, Elvira meets a guardian angel (not her own).  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 5".

#6:  August, 1993.  In the first story, Elvira goes to a hotel where she is ogled by three bellboys.  The second story is "Exeter Only: Part 6", the conclusion.

#8:  December, 1993.  The first story is about Elvira's office Christmas party.  Mingled in with that are spoofs of Holiday cartoon specials like "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol", "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas"...all starring Elvira, of course.  The second story is "A Child's Christmas (With Whales)" and has Elvira befriending a little mermaid girl.
