About This
Series:
Shi's great mission in life is to avenge the murders of her brother and
father. In this mini-series, she goes to Japan to save her
Caucasian mother, Catherine. Along the way she meets more
typically kooky foes, this time working for the legendary Yakuza group.
Issues:
Issue #1: July,
1997. To tell you the truth, I think Shi stories kind of all run
together. Her premise doesn't give her much to go on. She's
after the bad guys that killed her family. What happens when she
finally gets her revenge? End of series. There really isn't
much more to her character than a simple revenge story. It's not
like she has a plethera of plot devices at her disposal to give her
comics a five-decade run like Spider-Man. On the other hand, I
think Shi can be translated into a series of action movies much more
faithfully than most superhero characters, because she's a bit more
real in the first place.
In this mini-series, one of the many that was made
before Shi finally got her own regular series, Shi goes to Japan to
save her Caucasian mother from her enemies. She finds out that
the Yakuza now has hired assassins to kill her Mom.
The artwork in this issue is slick and
bedazzling. They really did a great job in making a
half-Japanese/half-white heroine very sexy. Another thrill in
this issue are the hot Japanese assassin twins Kaji and Kori, who Shi
promptly kills.
