About This
Series:
I love this
series! It was one of the few, full-color series AC
produced. Dragonfly was also one of AC's most legitimate
heroines. Most of AC's heroines, although cool, are meant to be
kind of silly and camp. Dragonfly is a mainstream heroine and
could have been published by DC or Marvel.
Dragonfly was created by writer/artist Rik
Levins. This is really when Dragonfly was Dragonfly. After
Rik left AC, and other writers and artists took on Dragonfly, the
character was never the same. Since Rik's time, Dragonfly's look
has been changed, and she's been "tampered with" to fit in the
successful, yet silly, FemForce line.
"Dragonfly" ran for 8 issues. The series was
cancelled in the middle of a storyline. That storyline was
concluded in a short, black and white story in "Fem Fantastique" #1 by
someone other than Rik Levins. The story was concluded rather
simple and lackluster. I think Rik had something much more grand
in mind. At least that storyline had some sort of a finish, and
didn't leave us hanging like some cancelled comic titles.
