About This
Series:
Why this one-issue
"series" was not just another issue in the regular "Americomics" series
I do not know. The whole aim of the "Americomics" title was to
try out different characters on readers, and that's what this issue
does. It is special, for the fact, that AC knew at the time it
was only a one-shot deal. The Charlton publisher allowed AC to
come up with this original story, but sold the characters to DC almost
right away. DC then introduced all of these characters into their
"universe". Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Question, and Nightshade
would all fight alongside the likes of Superman and Batman.
This was a well-written story, beautifully
illustrated...a fun read! Dan St. John and Greg Guler worked
together on the writing. Greg Guler did the art. It would
have been interesting to see AC continue this version of the Sentinels
of Justice superteam. Instead, AC created a different Sentinels
of Justice superteam, featuring all different characters.
Issues:
#1: August,
1983. In full color! This comic really delivers.
Straight to the point, easy-to-read writing and beautiful artwork make
this a must-have for any AC Comics follower. Captain Atom and the
sexy Nightshade are a team within themselves, and two of the four
members of the Sentinels of Justice. The second, Ted Kord version
of Blue Beetle and The Question round out the rest of the team.
The major villain is the criminal mastermind Manipulator.
