History of Superman (Max Fleischer Series)From 1941 to 1943 there were 17 theatrically-released Superman cartoon shorts first done by Max Fleischer Studios and later Paramount's Famous Studios.  These are absolutely, by leaps and bounds, the best superhero cartoons you will ever see!  The animation is absolutely beautiful and the stories are ideal for the 7-8 minute format.  The movements of the characters are so realized and the detail of the backgrounds so intricate that you'll wonder why more superhero cartoons are not drawn like this!  In addition to being really well-done animation-wise, these Superman cartoons also had a lot of funny moments.  They aren't entirely serious pictures.  If you are a cartoon fan of any sort, watch these Superman cartoons!

Episode Review:

5. The Bulleteers:  The Bulleteers, a gang of men in a bullet-shaped super-car, terrorize Metropolis in order to collect a heavy ransom.

In a lot of ways, this cartoon seems to borrow from the earlier episode, "The Billion Dollar Limited".  Again we have a gang of men in a super-car pulling off some kind of heist.  I like both of these cartoons very much.  The bullet car in "The Bulleteers" is way cool!

6. The Magnetic Telescope:  A scientist's giant magnetic telescope brings a fiery comet to Earth.

8. Volcano:  Superman stops an erupting volcano.

10. Japoteurs:
Japanese spies steal a giant American bomber plane.

11. Showdown:  A Superman copycat goes on a crime spree.

12. The Eleventh Hour:  Superman sabotages the military forces of WWII Yokohama, Japan.

15. Jungle Drums:  Nazis posing as African jungle gods capture Lois Lane.
