- The company was originally formed as the
Kaiser-Frazer Corporation in
1945.
- It's primary facility and corporate headquarters
was located in Willow Run, Michigan, USA.
- Henry J. Kaiser was an American
industrialist. Joseph W. Frazer was president of the Graham-Paige
Corporation.
- Kaiser cars and Frazer cars started production
almost immediately after the end of WWII.
- The company was reorganized as Kaiser Motors
Corporation in 1953, after
the withdrawal of Joseph W. Frazer.
- Joseph W. Frazer actually resigned as president
in 1948, after too many
disputes with Henry J. Kaiser. He stayed on until 1953 as a sales
consultant and Vice-Chairman of the Kaiser-Frazer Board of Directors.
- Henry Kaiser's oldest son, Edgar, was made
president of Kaiser-Frazer in April 1949.
- Frazer cars ceased production after the 1951
models.
- Shortly before the stockholder meeting in 1953
that saw the company's name changed to Kaiser Motors Corporation, the
company bought out the Willys-Overland Corporation (makers of the
Willys cars and Jeep vehicles).
- Kaiser cars ceased production during 1955.
