Biography: Not much
is known about Dorothy Moore at all. SEE
UPDATE #1! If anyone out there knows
more about this actress, please contact me.
Moore only appeared in two Blondie movies: #1 Blondie,
#2 Blondie Meets the Boss. In both
movies, she plays Blondie's younger sister, Dot Miller. Dot added
a lot to the Blondie films she was in. She was ditzy like her
older sister, but unlike her older sister she had a lot more
spunk. For instance, in the second film she is a jitterbug
dancer. Blondie is more reserved (or as reserved as she can be
with a husband like Dagwood). It's curious that the writers
didn't continue the character of Dot Miller, even with another
actress. Oh well, I guess that's just one of Hollywood's many
mysteries.
UPDATE
#1: In June of 2005 I was contacted by Frank
Reighter. Interesting enough, he is an active member of the Three
Stooges Fan Club and is one of several members who researches the
supporting players for those film shorts. In case you didn't
know, the Blondie film series and the Three Stooges shorts were both
produced by Columbia Studios. It's not unusual to see many actors
from the Blondie films appear in the Stooges shorts and
vice-versa. Dorothy Moore was in two Three Stooges shorts:
"Calling All Curs" and "Oily to Bed, Oily to Rise" (both in 1939).
I've been forwarded many e-mails concerning Dorothy Moore (and other
Three Stooges actors) which has helped put the pieces of her history
together. The following information is obtained from a 1937-1938
Motion Picture Almanac. It was told to Frank Reighter by his
fellow researcher Bill Cappello and forwarded to me:
"Her education is given as Manual Arts High School and Ben Bard's
Dramatic School. Height: 5 feet, 3.5 inches. Weight:
116 pounds. Brown hair, blue eyes. Signed by RKO Pictures."
Bill also found the same information in a bio from February 1937, which
comes from the RKO Radio Pictures Publicity Dept. Incidentally,
the info on birthdate and birthplace above also comes from these bios.
It is suspected that at the time of this writing (June 2005) Dorothy
Moore might still be alive! Frank Reighter, his Three Stooges
supporting player researchers colleagues, and myself are all looking
for Ms. Moore and interested in any information you can provide
us. If you can
help, please click on this link to e-mail me!
