"Wonder Woman" (1975-1979)
One of the few, rare occasions in which an actress cast actually
LOOKS like the comic book character she is supposed to play is
that of Lynda Carter in "Wonder Woman". For those who don't
know, Wonder Woman is the most popular comic book superheroine of all
time. In 1975, a live-action "Wonder Woman" television show
first appeared and became one of the sexiest and trendiest shows of all
time. It had a large following of children AND adults and made a
superstar out of Lynda Carter. This was a family show and
sometimes it would come off as "hokey", but anyone with imagination
will
see that this was a well-written, well-acted show and definitely
fun! Wonder Woman was, in reality, Princess Diana of the Amazons
who came to the land of man from Paradise Island during WWII.
Highly intelligent, but somewhat naive to the outside world,
Diana/Wonder Woman was always willing to learn and always did what she
could to help others. Fighting was always a last resort (but
fighting happened a lot, or we wouldn't have a show). Whenever
possible, Wonder Woman tried to handle a situation peaceably. For
glamour and good attitude, Wonder Woman gets BIG APPLAUSE!
