Blair's Girls: Tess
Trueheart
Played by Anne Jeffreys
"Dick Tracy" (1946 Film)
"Dick Tracy vs. Cueball" (1946 Film)
Smart, blonde, and absolutely stunning, Anne
Jeffreys' portrayal
of the Tess Trueheart character from the classic "Dick Tracy" comic
strip is by far and away the best of any actress that has ever assumed
the role. Tess is witty and brave, but she knows her
limitations. After all, Dick Tracy is the experienced police
detective, but when she's in trouble she's no slouch and always does
her best to get out of a bad situation. What I like about Tess is
that she's more like a real woman would be in distress. She's not
helpless, but she doesn't try to attack the guy with the gun or knife
either. Tess is also supportive of her boyfriend Dick Tracy and
his work. She doesn't chastize him about being a cop or start
pointless arguments. Tess Trueheart really stands by her
man!
