"The Legend of Zorro" film
(2005)
I also liked this character in the previous film "The Mask of
Zorro" (1998), but it wasn't until this film that she could definitely
be called a heroine. She is strong-willed and self-sufficient,
and quite an action starlet. We see in this movie that she can
definitely dish it out to the bad guys. But what I really like is
that this time around she's more humorous, and still looks very
glamorous. I was really, really impressed by Catherine's
performance in this film. She mostly does drama movies, but it is
the action movies such as "The Phantom", "Entrapment", and the Zorro
films where she really shines. She was also great in "The
Haunting" although that film itself was flawed.
This character really works well with Antonio Banderas'
Alejandro/Zorro. They really do come off like they could be
husband and wife. And what I really think is neat is that she's a
mother in this film, so you have that, too. She really is quite a
woman in this film. The only thing that could've made her even
more larger than life is if she had some kind of cool, Zorro-like
costume, too!
I really enjoyed Zeta-Jones in this film, and she is really a credit to
the "Zorro" legacy.
