MYTH: Some people think the roadrunner is a cartoon
invention. For those who don't know, there is such a bird as the
roadrunner. However, don't be fooled by what Looney Tunes tells
you. The real roadrunner is quite different. Here are some
- The roadrunner is actually a
member of the cuckoo bird family. They don't look much like
cuckoos, but a few things give them away. One thing is that
roadrunners make a "coo coo" sound like their fellow cuckoos.
They don't really make a "beep beep" or "meep meep" sound.
Another thing is their feet. Like other cuckoos, roadrunners have
four toes on each foot. Two toes go forward and two go back
making an X pattern.
