About This Animal
- WEATHERMEN OF THE
BUG WORLD!: Did you know that you can predict the temperature by
counting cricket chirps? It's true! Count the chirps you
hear crickets make in one minute. Count carefully, because one
chirp may blend into another. When you finish counting, divide
the number of chirps by 4...then add 40 to the answer. The number
you get is supposed to be the temperature in Fahrenheit degrees.
Check your thermometer. Did you and the crickets come close to
the actual temperature? Scientists have actually thought out this
activity, so there may just be something to it.
