"Beauties of the Beverly Hillbillies" Entry For This Actress!
Born: August 10, 1924 in Fort Worth, Texas,
USA
Died:
Cause of Death:
Spouse #1: C. Ray Stahl (1951-1954) (divorced)
Spouse #2: Hal B. Wallis (1966-October 5, 1986) (his death)
Biography:
She was married to C. Ray Stahl from 1951 to
1954
until they divorced. In 1966 she married filmmaker Hal B. Wallis
and stayed with him until his death on October 5, 1986. She
actually wrote the screenplay for Hal's HUGELY popular 1975 film
"Rooster Cogburn". Wow! She didn't write it in her own
name, but as an alias Martin Julien. Her most famous screen
appearance was the 1958 film "Some Came Running" in which she was
Oscar-nominated as Best Supporting Actress. She did quite a
bit in movies, especially in the 1950s. An interesting fact is
that she was highly considered to play the part of Marion Crane in
Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" from 1960, but lost out to Janet
Leigh. Remember the woman that gets stabbed in the shower?
That could've been her. Personally, I'm glad she didn't get the
part. Maybe that would've been a huge step for her, but it just
isn't that nice to play a character who is more famous to audiences as
a corpse.
Ms. Hyer had a pretty good acting career and
definitely made some impressive accomplishments.
