Biography:
Cowan was
a big-time character actor in film and television for four decades from
the 1930s to the 1960s. He kept busy and chances are if you like
any show from that 40 year stretch, you've probably seen him in
something. He played Dagwood Bumstead's second boss in the
Blondie movie series. For some unspoken reason George M. Radclife
(Cowan's character) took over the construction firm from J.C. Dithers
(played by Jonathan Hale). His character did not appear in the
comics and was created expressly for this movie series. Cowan
played this character well, who was definitely meaner than Dagwood's
former boss. Many Blondie fans, though, do not really like this
character because he's so mean that he almost doesn't act human.
I guess it all depends on what kind of person you are
whether you like this type of comedic character or not. I like
both bosses, but would have to say that J.C. Dithers is still my
favorite. Here are Cowan's Blondie movie appearances:
18.
Blondie Knows Best (1946) (as a different character by the name of
"Charles Peabody")
19.
Blondie's Big Moment (1947) (first movie as "George M. Radcliffe")
20.
Blondie's Holiday (1947)
21.
Blondie in the Dough (1947)
22.

24.
