Officer "Hoppy" Hopkins-  Played by Howard T. Platt.  Hoppy's awesome!  He added so much personality to the show.  "Sanford and Son" was a primarily black cast with black co-stars and there wasn't a whole lot of diversity.  Then the all-white "Hoppy" the cop comes in and you can see just how not-with-it he is, although he's a good guy and tries to do the right thing.  Basically a real straight-arrow.
