Not much is
known about Ms. Campbell's life prior to or after her film
career. She was born on July 12, 1942 in Santa Monica,
California, USA. She made her way down south over the border and
at 19 made her 1961 Mexico film debut in "Los pistoleros". This
soon led to other starring roles in Mexican feature films. Her
most famous role is undoubtedly Golden Rubi of the Luchadoras
movies. She was made to play second to Lorena Valezquez's Gloria
Venus (later renamed Loretta), but outshined her almost all the
time. Many Mexican fans of the film even claim Campbell as their
more favorite of the two. I love them both, but Campbell is
certainly tops for me.
She stood 5'
10" tall and had incredible good
looks. From 1961 to 1968 she had a very substantial acting career
in Mexico. Then it all went "poof" after that. In the
December 11, 1968 issue of Excelsior magazine, Campbell said she was
leaving Mexico for New York City to work in television. She was
not seen again on screen and no
one really knows what happened to her. I'd like to know.
