Biography: He was the very first actor to play Robin when that character was just 3 years old. He was in movies from 1941 to 1947. A lot of people notice this and a lot of people don't, but Croft almost looked too old to play the part of Robin. After all, he was only 6 years younger than the actor who played Batman, but he was short so it worked. Croft was 17 at the time. Of course, Robin has been made older in the comics since then. Nowadays, he's college age, but back in the 1940s Robin really was supposed to be a preteen boy. It's no biggie at all, though, because Croft gave an excellent performance as Robin. Lively and fun...just like his comic book counterpart!
